By Herta Muller THE LAND OF GREEN PLUMS (Trade paperback.) [Paperback]

                       WRITER:HERTA MULLER

-Welcome back my super duper lovely readers! Hope you all had a nice and fun week and a worth one as well.I hope anyone of you was able to read at least 10-20 pages a day of any kind of book, morning or before bedtime :) I as well finished another one. This one was an autobiographical book expressing the harsh and difficult life of  4 youngsters from Romania, livin in a totalitarian police state of Soviet-imposed communist dictatorship.

-Plot: The first character is LOLA,who shares a college dormitory room with five other girls, includin as well the narrator of the story.Everything Lola does,is recorded in her diary relating her efforts to escape from the totalitarian world of school and society. While traveling by bus she has an anonyous sex with men returning home from factory work. She as well had an affair with the gym teacher.

The first part of the book ends when Lola is found dead, hanging in the closet. She left the diary in the narrator's suitcase.

Part 2- The narrator shares her diary with 3 male friends, Edgar/Georg/Kurt,Lola's life becomes an escape form for them. They keep harbouring unsuitable German books, humming scraps of banned songs, writing to one another with special codes. All of them are from German-speaking communities, which had fathers who had been members of Nazi SS in Romania during World War II.
Very quickly,an officer from securities,Captain Pjele begins to follow them and interrogating them as well

Part 3- After graduation, the four go their separate ways but they remain in contact with letters and regular visits, although all of their letters are read first from the security.A fifth member, called Tereza gets friendly with the narrator, although it is finely believed she is acting partly in Pjele's orders.

Part 4- The lives of the four becomes miserable, losing their jobs as well for political reasons. They discuss fleeing the country, and Georg is the first to do so.Weeks after he arrives in Germany,he is found dead from a fall from the window in a hotel in Frankfurt. The narrator and Edgar emmigrate as well, both of them getting threatenings.Kurt remains in Romania, whom later was found hanged. The novel end with the same passage as it began:When we dont speak, said Edgar we become unbearable, and when we do we make fool of ourselves

-Why would i recommend it to you?
1) Possesses a narrative patterning that is strikingly beautiful. There's compression, too, and suspense, though it's not a mystery or thriller.Yet the vivid picture Herta Müller paints of Communist Romania under dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu is an absolute horror.Herta Müller has taken a hideous thing and made transcendent art from it. A captivating stunner of a novel but dark, really daaark.
2) It is a really genuinely moving book. Its style develops an almost hypnotic power over us,'readers'.
3)For anyone who has ever believed that socialism of any kind was or is a good thing, Herta Muller's The Land of Green Plums would be an eye-opening novel that might make you think otherwise.

-As you may see from the pictures below this book is "THE WINNER OF THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR LITERATURE.
If you still haven't read it or you have any intention to read it or you just got inspired from my blog to read it, just grab it and enjoy every page.Im sure you all will like it and thank me indirect :p
